The value of strip trials

It's true that a single strip trial may not be not as accurate as a carefully controlled and replicable field test. However, field tests are difficult and expensive to run, so they are only conducted at a few locations. They may be very accurate for a single scenario of soil, climate, pest and disease, but they tell us little about the many other conditions that a hybrid will face in the real world. Strip trials often are not as carefully controlled and may not be as accurate as field trials. However if there is a large number of them, they can provide valuable information about how a hybrid responds under a wide variety of conditions. At CropFax we use analyze the results from both types of trials. We believe this gives growers the best estimate of how a hybrid will perform under a variety of conditions.
